Physics 30 combines a diploma exam with the most abstract content in the sequence — fields and modern physics have no everyday intuition to lean on. Students also underestimate the numerical-response questions, which punish arithmetic slips heavily.
How we teach it
We build field problems from the mechanics students already have, so the abstraction has something to attach to. Diploma practice is continuous rather than saved for April, and we work on numerical-response accuracy specifically.
Physics 30 diploma exam preparation
Physics 30 carries a provincial diploma exam worth 30% of the final grade. We run released diploma questions throughout the year rather than only in the final weeks, so exam format is familiar long before April. Pacing and numerical-response accuracy are practised as separate skills from content.
